Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson two lawyers. When she moved to Oxfordshire when she was five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma aged six when she made the decision to make it as an actress. The actress trained for several years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a partially-time theater school in Oxford in which she learned singing and acting. It was already her turn to perform in a variety of Stagecoach and school productions by the time she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaption from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was announced in 1999. Emma was noticed by casting directors through Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditioning for eight times. They were chosen to play the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's debut on the screen in cinema. It also was the most successful film in 2001. The opening days and weekends of sales were record-breaking. Critics have praised both the film, as well as the performances by the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British newspaper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma received the Young Artist Award as the Most Outstanding Young Actress in part of a feature Film. Emma was nominated for five awards for her work in the film.
